Grant Name: Fronteridades Mini-Grant
Granting Agency: Confluencenter - The University of Arizona & Mellon Foundation Support. In partnership with faculty from the UArizona School of Art, the Museo de Arte in Nogales, Sonora, and Galeria Mitotera, a Tucson-based art gallery and community arts hub for artists from Tucson and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, the I-19 Arts Collective brings together Tucson art communities and art institutions and their binational Nogales counterparts.

My role: Create a 10ft x 10ft mounted piece that tells a personal borderland story
Project Title or Purpose: The Fronteridades program seeks to promote and define an intersectional space where borders (fronteras) and humanities (humanidades) collide, coexist and give rise to Fronteridades (fronteras + humanidades). All artists will combine their pieces for a mobile mural touring through Tucson, South Tucson 7 Nogales. The University of Arizona's Confluencenter partners with Galeria Mitotera in South Tucson to amplify borderland stories and art through the Fronteridades program, which includes community-based art projects, the "Voices of Fronteridades".
Displayed: Toured throughout the southwest, my piece was selected and displayed at the Museo de Arte in Nogales, Sonora during Pride Month 2024.
